While I’m job searching, I’ve found a local opportunity for me to help develop my marketing skills, as well as use the skills I already possess to good use in an industry that I love. A few weeks ago, I spoke to the owner of my local comic store and offered my skills in marketing up to him. I’m going to be helping increase their social media presence, as well as finding some local opportunities to spread our love of comics to people and hopefully increase his business at the same time. I’m very excited and I hope this partnership proves to be fruitful for the both of us!
As an intern for TOKYOPOP, I helped to create a series of videos based around the concept of a ‘Confession Booth,’ to go along with the theme of a reality TV show. This is the first video we created. Subsequent episodes can be found here:
We also created a commercial explaining why we were fans of Japanese comics and why that was okay.
I was a production assistant and a social media and marketing intern for this web-based production, which eventually aired on Hulu in Fall 2010. I also helped with some of the company’s editorial output, which included writing blog posts for their email-based newsletter and the back cover descriptions for some of their books.
